Immensa & DNV Announce Guide for Digitisation Of Spare Parts
DNV ( Det Norske Veritas) and Immensa - MENA’s largest digital manufacturer - have announced the world’s first guideline for the digitisation of spare parts.
With the energy spare parts market valued at US$91bn globally and national industrial initiatives growing across the Gulf region, this innovation comes at a critical time.
It addresses both the burgeoning economic opportunity in this area and its ongoing challenges with effective inventory management.
Energy companies across the world experience preventable losses of US$30bn annually due to ineffective inventory management. Digitised inventories and on-demand manufacturing eradicate this problem, providing reliably stored, backed-up parts that are easy to replicate.
The guideline brings forth specific guidelines on the data capture of spare parts, defines a digital concept for assets and establishes a standardised approach for creating them.
As Industry 4.0 continues to propel the global manufacturing sector forward, these guidelines will make additive and digital manufacturing approaches more efficient, accessible and effective.
- Assessing physical parts for digitising potential
- Converting selected physical parts into digital twin
- Inclusion in a Digital Inventory system
- On-demand Manufacturing, recommending its use as a viable spare parts strategy, for timely delivery and high-quality standards.
“We, at the DNV AM team, are delighted to reflect on our successful collaboration with Immensa on this groundbreaking project," says Dr. Sastry Kandukuri, Global AM Practice Lead & Technical Authority for AM Certification at DNV Energy Systems.
“The unveiling of the industry’s first-ever guideline on Digital Inventory Readiness Levels marks a significant milestone in additive manufacturing, setting a new benchmark and paving the way for future innovations and collaborations.”
The guideline seeks to support industrial manufacturers and international energy companies on their advanced manufacturing journey by providing a streamlined process to effective and flexible inventory and supply chain management.
The development of this guide further expands Immensa’s reach and influence, following its recent strategic partnership with Pelagus 3D to enhance additive manufacturing across the maritime sector.
The manufacturer's current collaboration with DNV comes after Immensa received a coveted DNV certification, making them the first company in MENA to have achieved this.
“We are thrilled to set a new benchmark in the digital transformation of industry alongside our world-class partners at DNV – and today’s news is a game-changer for global supply chains and asset security.” adds Fahmi Al Shawwa, CEO of Immensa.
“Energy companies are demanding the very latest cutting-edge innovation to produce parts locally, and national industrial strategies are focused on the same goal for their wider manufacturing sectors.
“ We are delighted to support the Middle East’s rapid growth, and to be a pivotal player in the $91 billion global energy spare parts market.”
Immensa is already implementing the guideline, designed to be a certification for the wider manufacturing industry, with its global customers to enhance competitiveness.
The company believes in a decade 80% of spare parts manufacturing will occur through digital means of production, rendering traditional legacy models obsolete.
