Design team for Scotland’s $84mn international centre of manufacturing confirmed
The design team for Scotland’s £65mn ($84mn) international centre of manufacturing expertise has been appointed, according to The Herald.
It has been announced that HLM Architects will lead the design team and also provide landscape architecture and interior designs services for the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland which is trying to enable Scotland to become a global leader in advanced manufacturing.
It is expected that following the launch of the new centre, Scottish businesses will have a greater access to expert services, advanced demonstrator facilities and training programmes with an aim on innovative manufacturing.

Ross Barrett, associate at HLM, commented: “This is a huge opportunity to create an innovative, flexible and collaborative environment which will help inspire and attract industry partners and academics alike, reducing barriers to innovation.”
The total investment consists of £48mn from the Scottish government, £8mn from the University of Strathclyde as well as £9mn in the Lightweight Manufacturing Centre.
