UK manufacturers requiring CE marking certification following Brexit will be supported by TÜV SÜD’s accreditation from Danish authority DANAK.

The DANAK accreditation covers four European directives - Marine Equipment Directive, Radio Equipment Directive, EMC Directive & Machinery Directive. Its scope is identical to that already held by the UK notified body TÜV SÜD BABT, which is accredited by UKAS for the four EU directives.

TÜV SÜD’s certification processes through both organisations are identical, reducing complications in procuring the CE mark. Even if the UK leaves the European Union without a deal, this new accreditation enables TÜV SÜD to issue dual certifications for both CE and UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking.

Acquiring the accreditations is part of TÜV SÜD’s commitment to ensure that clients may continue to maintain their products CE certification through TÜV SÜD and acquire new certification no matter what occurs in the upcoming weeks and months amid uncertainties around the UK’s Brexit negotiations.

Nathan Emery, certification body manager at TÜV SÜD, commented: “During the uncertainty of Brexit, it was imperative that we got all of our ducks in a row and covered every possible scenario. As we are a UK notified body, our clients rely on us to maintain thousands of CE marking certifications.”

“Now that the TÜV SÜD UK business has achieved notified body status outside of the UK, clients’ CE marking status will not change, and they can continue to seamlessly distribute products within the EU after Brexit,” Emery added.

TÜV SÜD will work with clients to address their certification needs for market entry into the European union and in the occurrence of the UK leaving the European union without a transitional arrangement, market entry to the UK.
