Makersite secures $70.2m to expand its AI platform, helping manufacturers improve product design, cut costs and meet environmental and regulatory demands

Makersite's Product Lifecycle Intelligence platform brings together financial, environmental, regulatory and risk data to help manufacturers design safer, more cost-effective and environmentally sound products.

By offering detailed visibility into supply chain operations, it supports informed decision-making throughout the product development cycle.

The company has secured €60 million (approximately US$70.2m) in Series B funding, advancing its goal of enabling every manufactured product to be the most affordable, safe and green version possible.

Its platform achieves this through intelligent automation, deep data insight and technical integrations.

CEO and Founder Neil D’Souza says: "This investment marks a critical milestone in our mission to make sustainable product design the default. Securing this level of commitment, especially in today's uncertain economic and geopolitical environment, demonstrates the strength of our business case and the urgency of our mission.

ā€œThe funding will allow us to accelerate platform development, deepen integration with our technology partners and scale our impact globally."

Major industry players adopt Makersite

This latest capital injection will support the platform’s continued development, along with growth in Makersite’s technical infrastructure and team.

The move aligns with rising adoption across leading manufacturers including Microsoft, Daikin, Cummins, Barco and Schneider Electric. These companies are using the platform to enhance product strategy and improve how they manage their supply chains.

The Series B round is co-led by investment firms Lightrock and Partech, with support from SE Ventures. Makersite’s previous investors – Hitachi Ventures, KOMPAS VC, Translink Capital and Planet A – were also involved in this round.

Julien Cristiani, General Partner at SE Ventures

SE Ventures General Partner Julien Cristiani says: "We were impressed by the Makersite team's expertise in lifecycle and supply chain intelligence. Their domain knowledge, combined with a clear execution track record, stood out immediately.

ā€œWhat sealed our conviction was the company's growth and the level of automation they've achieved, being able to process thousands of SKUs with such speed and precision is a game-changer for supply chain visibility and sustainable product development at scale."

AI-enabled insights improve manufacturing decisions

Makersite’s platform uses AI to process inconsistent and fragmented customer data, connecting and structuring it into usable insight. This improved data is then layered over a proprietary data foundation considered one of the most complete sources of supply chain knowledge in the industry.

The database includes detailed information on how materials and components are produced, their cost structures, environmental impact and regulatory classifications.

This foundation enables manufacturers to assess design and procurement options in real time through integrated tools that support collaboration across teams.

Manufacturers can also use the platform for reporting on key indicators such as cost, carbon emissions, compliance status and supply chain risk. The result is a system that supports internal communication, customer transparency and regulatory alignment.

With a team of more than 150 people, Makersite works with some of the largest manufacturers in the world.

Microsoft has used the platform to reduce the carbon footprint of its Surface Pro 10 laptop by up to 28% in two years. Schneider Electric is implementing Makersite to expand its environmental product declaration (EPD) and eco-design strategies across over 200,000 stock keeping units (SKUs).

Schneider Electric's Chief Digital Officer, Peter Weckesser

Peter Weckesser, Chief Digital Officer at Schneider Electric, says: "Partnering with Makersite gives our teams and customers unparalleled insight into the environmental impact of products, accelerating our journey toward net-zero and setting new benchmarks for resilience and innovation."

A tool for balancing trade-offs in sustainability

Makersite integrates with major product lifecycle management (PLM) systems such as Siemens’ Teamcenter and PTC Windchill, as well as design software tools including Ansys and Autodesk. These are already widely used by manufacturers and help support smoother platform adoption.

Chris Steinau, Partner at Lightrock, notes: "Our commitment to Makersite reflects our strong confidence in their vision and their unique approach—treating sustainability as a balanced trade-off between cost, safety and environmental performance, rather than simply a 'green' checkbox."

Makersite is responding to increasing pressure on manufacturers to cut emissions while also making supply chains more resilient. Regulatory and stakeholder expectations are growing, prompting many in the sector to re-evaluate their product design processes and supplier networks.

Arnaud Minvielle, General Partners at Partech

Arnaud Minvielle and Remi Said, General Partners at Partech, notes "We are very honoured and proud to invest in this global impact champion. We have very strong convictions on Makersite's product superiority, the depth of its market where R&D and complex purchasing can be transformed through accelerated insight generation and the exceptional talent of Neil and his team. We believe that we can support Makersite in its next S-curve, alongside Lightrock and other shareholders."
