Johnson & Johnson's Global Manufacturing Network

For more than 140 years, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has stood at the forefront of healthcare innovation, dedicated to keeping people well at every age and stage of life.
From its origins at the 1876 Worldâs Fair to pioneering breakthroughs in medicine, medical technology and public health, J&J has played a defining role in shaping modern healthcare. Its legacy includes iconic products, visionary leadership and an enduring drive to enhance the health and wellbeing of people around the world.
Tackling global health challenges
According to J&J, the company is focused on addressing the worldâs most pervasive and complex health challenges by combining rigorous science with breakthrough innovation and an unwavering commitment to patients.
Through transformational medicines and advanced medical technologies, J&J targets critical areas such as oncology, cardiovascular care, neuroscience, immunology, orthopaedics, surgery and vision. In both biology and technology, the company is developing smarter, less invasive and more personalised solutions â from robotic-assisted surgery and precision catheters to heart pumps, circulatory restoration technologies and vision innovations.
The company notes that these innovations are particularly essential in surgery, where more than 50 million people globally experience surgical site infections. Such infections account for 20â31% of all hospital-acquired infections, and up to 16% of patients experience disruptive bleeding â complications that drive healthcare costs as high as US$10bn annually in the United States alone.
By pioneering solutions that deliver care with pinpoint precision, protect healthy tissue and reimagine the healing process across the full cycle of care, J&J aims to go beyond symptom treatment â helping to improve outcomes, restore quality of life and build a healthier future for patients worldwide.
âAt Johnson & Johnson, we are leading where medicine is going, with a relentless focus on bringing transformational medical innovation to patients who are waiting,â says Jennifer L. Taubert, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Chairman, Innovative Medicine, Johnson & Johnson.
âOur teamâs deep expertise and global reach are helping us reimagine how devastating diseases are treated and cured, delivering hope and better care for millions of patients and their families around the world.â
Expanding global manufacturing
Johnson & Johnson operates one of the worldâs most extensive and advanced manufacturing networks, with 64 facilities spanning the United States, Europe and Asia.
The company is investing more than US$55bn in US manufacturing and R&D through 2029, including a new 500,000-square-foot biologics facility in North Carolina to expand production of cancer and neurological medicines.
In Europe, key sites include MedTech and surgical innovation centres in Neuchâtel and Oberdorf and pharmaceutical manufacturing hubs in Belgiumâs Geel and Olen.
Across Asia, J&J maintains a major DePuy Synthes campus in Suzhou, China and a LEED Platinumâcertified facility in Shanghai, alongside advanced, sustainable operations in Ringaskiddy, Ireland.
Together, these sites underpin J&Jâs dual focus on cutting-edge biologics and MedTech solutions, supported by a network of innovation hubs in Boston, California, London and Shanghai that bridge early research with scalable manufacturing.
Partnering with responsible suppliers
J&J views its suppliers as essential partners in advancing global healthcare. By fostering relationships built on trust, transparency and shared innovation, J&J integrates suppliers as extensions of its own capabilities â co-creating solutions that meet unmet patient needs.
In hospital supply chains, J&J works to optimise people, processes and technology. It provides training and support, applies lean methodologies to streamline workflows and leverages technology-driven tools â such as RFID and barcode scanning â to simplify ordering, tracking and inventory management.
By aligning supplier-enabled innovation with the evolving challenges of healthcare delivery, J&J ensures that hospitals and providers have the resources they need to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs and advance a healthier world.
