AkzoNobel invests millions in Felling site to enhance powder coating manufacturing

AkzoNobel has invested €3m (US$3.2m) in its Felling site, near Gateshead in an ambitious move to boost the business's capacity to manufacture powder coatings.

Employing over 600 people, the Felling site is one of the manufacturers largest in the UK, playing a vital role in its operations for over 140 years.

It will foster superior collaboration between the manufacturing site and the customer operations team, elevating the customer experience whilst increasing market speed.

AkzoNobel will also streamline operations through the creation of a sole dedicated Powder Coatings customer service centre.

Alongside the Powder Coatings business, the Felling site also hosts AkzoNobel's Marine Protective and Yacht Coatings business which produced an innovative R&D innovation campus in 2019.

AkzoNobel is also expanding its digital offerings in Felling through an all-in-one digital platform called My Interpon portal, which seeks to foster easy customer access to the company’s extensive range of powder coatings.

Tomas Kluczewski, Regional Commercial Director for the Powder Coatings business in North Europe

“This move aims to further position our powder coatings business for growth, increase market speed and further improve quality for our UK and Ireland-based customers.” Said Tomas Kluczewski, Regional Commercial Director for the Powder Coatings business in North Europe.

Something that’s embodied in the company’s new publicised purpose, to Paint the Future.
