Alat and Lenovo are driving the future of electronics manufacturing in Saudi Arabia
Alat and Lenovo have established a world-class manufacturing hub in Saudi Arabia, helping meet KSA's Vision 2030 goals and growing its technological sector

Saudi Manufacturing company Alat and global technology leader Lenovo are making significant progress with the construction of a new sustainable manufacturing hub in Riyadh.

This world-class factory will be built on the  a 200,000 sqm campus within 'Riyadh Integrated', operated by the Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ).

It's dedicated to producing millions of "Saudi Made" laptops, desktops and servers, building the future of the nation's technology sector and smart manufacturing capabilities.

The facility, powered by a US$2bn investment has been designed to meet the highest sustainability standards and will serve as a key pillar in both Saudi Arabia’s manufacturing ambitions and Lenovo’s expansion strategy in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

Alat: Enhancing KSA's technological sector

This investment with Lenovo is just one of Alat's many planned investments by 2030 to enhance the capabilities of the Saudi technological sector.

In addition to building a revolutionary hub, Alat also seeks to empower the private sector and enhance the commercial environment through its business systems and partnerships with leading international technology manufacturers.

The company is innovating and creating manufacturing capabilities across nine business units, manufacturing products across 34 categories.

These products include semiconductors, smart devices, smart buildings, smart appliances, smart health, electrification, advanced industrials and AI infrastructure.

Leading these business units are global industry experts, working to ensure Alat's competitiveness and optimise business and production processes.

Amit Midha, CEO at Alat

“We are incredibly proud to become a strategic investor in Lenovo and partner with them on their continued journey as a leading global technology company," says Amit Midha, CEO at Alat.

"Alat and Lenovo have also entered a business development partnership which will leverage Alat’s extensive relationships in the region and local market insight.

"With the establishment of a regional headquarters in Riyadh and a world class manufacturing hub, powered by clean energy, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we expect the Lenovo team to further their potential across the MEA region.”

Lenovo: Expanding its MEA footprint

The new manufacturing hub, set to commence production in 2026, is strategically located just 15 minutes from Riyadh’s international airport in the Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ).

It will complement Lenovo’s existing network of over 30 factories worldwide, including facilities in Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, Mexico and the USA.

The establishment of this facility will enhance Lenovo's supply chain resilience and provide greater flexibility in responding to regional market demands.

By setting up operations in Riyadh, Lenovo will be positioned closer to its customers in the MEA region, reducing lead times and improving service delivery.

Lenovo has long been recognised for its supply chain excellence, ranking among the world’s top 25 supply chains and recently securing the #10 position in Gartner’s global rankings.

The new facility will further strengthen its ability to deliver industry-leading products, services and solutions while capitalising on the rapid growth of IT and business services across the region.

Yuanqing Yang, Chairman and CEO of Lenovo

“Through this powerful strategic collaboration and investment with Alat, we gain greater global presence, a strong regional foothold and the ability to capitalise on the incredible growth momentum in KSA and the wider MEA region," says Yuanqing Yang, Chairman and CEO of Lenovo.

"We are excited to have Alat as our long-term strategic partner and are confident that our world-class supply chain capabilities as well as our innovation will benefit KSA as it drives its Vision 2030 goals of economic diversification, industrial development, innovation and job creation.”

The partnership between Alat and Lenovo will play a crucial role in Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification efforts, aligning with the Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) strategy and Vision 2030.

The new manufacturing hub is expected to generate up to 15,000 direct jobs and as many as 45,000 indirect jobs, driving sustainable growth and contributing up to US$10bn to the country’s non-oil GDP by 2030.

Beyond manufacturing, Lenovo also seeks to establish a regional headquarters for the Middle East and Africa in Riyadh.

This move includes plans for a flagship retail space, increased investments in research and development as well as expanded marketing and strategic partnerships across both Saudi Arabia and the broader MEA region.

These initiatives will solidify Saudi Arabia’s position as a key player in the global technology and manufacturing landscape, fostering long-term economic development and innovation.
