Capgemini is bringing a host of new Gen AI solutions to manufacturing
Capgemini has been recognised as a leader for its Engineering and R&D services across multiple manufacturing sectors in the 2024 Zinnov Zones evaluation

Early last week Capgemini announced it had been positioned in the 'Leadership Zone' for the strength of its R&D and Engineering Services by leading global management and strategy consulting firm Zinnov.

In the 2024 Zinnov Zones evaluation, Capgemini has its ER&D services, Digital Services, Internet of Things (IoT) Services and Media & Technology all assessed by more than 75 Global ER&D Service Providers.

Capgemini, which has collaborated recently with software giants like Schneider Electric, Google, Microsoft, AWS, SAP and Mistral AI, has enhanced its focus on accelerating energy optimisation and generative AI (Gen AI) adoption across industry.

To further this the company has also launched engineering and R&D specific Gen AI focused solutions, designed to significantly elevate these two areas.

Sidhant Rastogi, President of Zinnov

“Capgemini is driving engineering innovation with key acquisitions — Lösch & Partner, D+I and Unity’s Digital Twin arm — boosting its capabilities in lifecycle management, intelligent industry solutions and 3D visualisation," says  Sidhant Rastogi, President of Zinnov.

"The firm’s recent collaborations with AWS, Microsoft, Google, SAP, Mistral AI, Schneider Electric, etc., further enhance its focus on accelerating Generative AI adoption and energy optimisation across industries.

"These strategic moves highlight Capgemini’s commitment to engineering excellence, sustainability and transformative digital strategies, cementing its leadership in the 2024 Zinnov Zones for ER&D and Digital Engineering ratings."

The sectors Zinnov recognised Capgemini for leadership in
  • Aerospace
  • Automotive
  • Electric Vehicles
  • Industrial
  • Semiconductors
  • Telecommunications
  • Medical Devices
William Roze, CEO of Capgemini Engineering and Group Executive Board Member

“Our positioning as a Leader by Zinnov is a testament to Capgemini’s commitment to creating new value in engineering and R&D for our clients across industries," adds William Rozé, CEO of Capgemini Engineering and Group Executive Board Member.

"We are proud to be recognised as the preferred partner of industry leaders to support their transformation and foster their innovation journey.

"We are helping them to take advantage of innovative technologies to streamline their engineering and R&D processes, create more intelligent products and services and accelerate scientific discoveries.”

Capgemini: Extending its portfolio of Gen AI solutions

Capgemini's new 'Augmented Engineering' solutions combine engineering and R&D with Gen AI to take data-driven engineering to the next level.

These solutions as the name implies augment existing engineering processes with AI, accelerating the creation of new services and smart products.

The first set of Capgemini's Gen AI offerings for engineering and R&D include:

  • Augmented Product Support & Services

This is a Gen AI-enabled assistant that helps streamline software product support. It makes working significantly easier for support engineers and their customers across different industries like MedTech, industrial IoT and telecommunications.

The Gen AI does this through reducing and automating support work including guided remediation and self-service deflection, whilst removing linguistic barriers to enhance the digital experience of all.

  • Augmented Product Technical Publications

Capgemini has designed a technical publications factory model and custom-built production workflow assistant that cuts down on data retrieval time and shortens publication authoring time from weeks to days.

Technical publications are regulatory-required documents that are essential to manufacturers and typically take a long time to author. This is because they provide all the necessary information for the effective installation, operation, maintenance and servicing of a manufactured product and its components.

  • Augmented R&D Discovery

Capgemini has provided a Gen-AI enabled solution to streamline R&D processes. Using data and AI-driven research hubs and reasoning engines, the solution helps to identify novel scientific approaches and generate new formulations. This is an immensely valuable tool for industries where R&D is critical, like pharmaceutical manufacturing, aerospace and cosmetics.

  • Augmented Software Product Engineering

Finally, Capgemini has created an agent-based asset framework to provide a holistic approach to product engineering. This solution helps improve product quality and creativity and development efficiency with its software lifecycle accelerators that address requirements, code creation and product generation. By utilising this tool developers will grow more experienced and efficient at designing high-performing products.

Franck Greverie, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Portfolio Officer and Group Executive Board Member at Capgemini, says: “Gen AI has the potential to turn innovative technology into engineering value, with products and services reaching new levels of intelligence and effectiveness.
