Siemens' facility in Fort Worth, Texas, has been specifically designed to support the growth of AI infrastructure and invest in the future of manufacturing

Siemens has officially opened its US$190m state-of-the-art electrical equipment manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, designed to support the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure.

This 500,000-square-foot site is crucial to scaling American production of critical electrical solutions, particularly as demand surges from data centres powering AI-driven workloads.

A cornerstone of Siemens’ Smart Infrastructure business, the facility produces essential electrical equipment such as low-voltage switchboards, ensuring reliability and efficiency in an increasingly digital economy.

Roland Busch, Siemens CEO

"This week, Siemens is unveiling two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for electrical products in both Fort Worth, Texas, and Pomona, California," said Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens, writing on LinkedIn. "The US$285m investment is expected to create over 900 skilled manufacturing jobs – and I had the honour to give the opening speech in Fort Worth.

"The equipment produced there will support critical sectors such as the commercial, industrial and construction markets while powering AI data centres all over the country. With that, Siemens is more than doubling its production capacity of electric equipment to power critical American infrastructure.

"The US is already the largest market for Siemens. This is why Siemens has invested over US$90bn in the country in the last 20 years.

"This year’s investment will boost this number to over US$100bn with the planned acquisition of Altair Engineering. So, we are bringing more jobs, more technology and a boost to America’s AI capabilities.

"All of this would not have been possible without the amazing people who work for us."

Advancing the AI-powered factory

The growth of AI infrastructure across the world has been astonishing.

This is especially evident in the US where, according to Precedence Research, the US AI infrastructure market size was US$14.52bn in 2024, and is projected to grow to be worth US$156.45bn by 2034.

Growing global demand for semiconductors is directly linked to the increasing use of AI across industries like manufacturing.

Under the Biden administration, we saw the signing of the CHIPS and Science Act, which authorised roughly US$280bn in funding to boost domestic research and semiconductor manufacturing in the US.

In January 2025, a landmark joint venture between OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle and investment firm MGX named Stargate LLC was announced to invest up to US$500bn in AI infrastructure in the US by 2029, meeting growing demand for data centres and advanced semiconductors.

Siemens' Fort Worth facility advances the use of AI within manufacturing, helping to build the future of industrial automation.

Barry Powell, Regional CEO of Electrical Products for Siemens Smart Infrastructure North America

"This ribbon cutting is coming on the heels of our Pomona, California Electrical Products facility expansion celebration and several other exciting manufacturing investments,” says Barry Powell, Regional CEO of Electrical Products for Siemens Smart Infrastructure North America.

“These two back-to-back openings underscore the importance of Siemens’ power distribution solutions to American infrastructure.

"Powering utilities, the construction industry, commercial facilities and, of course, data centres, we are scaling up to ensure US industry has the electrical foundation it needs to continue to stay competitive.”

The factory leverages Siemens’ Digital Industries Software to optimise production workflows and uses Siemens Technomatix 3D modelling to simulate, validate and commission the production process.

These actions have created an efficient and high-quality manufacturing environment that is tailored for scaling AI-driven infrastructure.

By showcasing how to effectively scale AI, Siemens is helping to boost AI adoption across the manufacturing industry and support its advancement within the US specifically.

Supporting the future of US manufacturing

The investment forms part of Siemens’ broader strategy to bolster American manufacturing, complementing its recent US$690m in investments across the US.

These include the US$95m expansion in Pomona, California, to enhance its legacy Electrical Products factory, a US$36m investment in Wendell, North Carolina, to boost fabrication capacity and workforce training, a US$220m rail manufacturing facility in Lexington, North Carolina, establishing a bicoastal "Made in America" rail footprint, and an expansion of its Grand Prairie, Texas, Electrical Products plant to meet growing electrification demands.

By integrating cutting-edge automation and sustainability practices, Siemens’ Fort Worth facility is poised to support the next generation of AI-powered infrastructure, reinforcing its role as a leader in the future of smart manufacturing.

During a time of uncertainty for American manufacturing, where US President Donald Trump continues to issue and then rescind his protectionist tariffs, Siemens continues to invest in its future in the nation and support its broader manufacturing industry.

The manufacturer has already generated 480 new jobs and is on track to create up to 800 roles by 2026.

Siemens is also taking an innovative approach towards creating a highly-skilled workforce in American manufacturing.

The manufacturer is recruiting former educators to lead employee training, shaping a curriculum tailored to diverse learning styles and accelerating new hires’ transition from classroom-based instruction to hands-on training in a dedicated physical learning lab before they join the production floor.

All of the above projects have been met with enthusiasm from local US officials and manufacturing organisations, a trend that continues with its new Fort Worth facility.

Governor of Texas Greg Abbot

"Texas is the epicentre of innovation, where businesses and entrepreneurs can cast a vision and know they live in a state where they can achieve it,” says Governor Greg Abbott.

“Siemens' US$190m investment in an electrical equipment manufacturing facility in Fort Worth will create jobs for 800 Texans and help build critical infrastructure to meet Texas’ growing data centre demand.

"Siemens will also provide critical job training to prepare Texans for these in-demand, good-paying jobs. By working together with companies like Siemens, Texas will continue to lead the world in manufacturing and innovation as we build a stronger, more prosperous state.”

Other business and manufacturing leaders sharing this sentiment include Aaron Demerson, President & CEO of the Texas Economic Development Corporation, Glenn Hamer, President & CEO of the Texas Association of Business, and Debra Phillips, President and CEO of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA).

Aaron Demerson, President & CEO of the Texas Economic Development Corporation

“The launch of Siemens’ US$190m manufacturing facility in Fort Worth highlights Texas’ leadership in advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, innovation, and workforce development," comments Aaron.

"Siemens’ investment strengthens our state’s position as a global hub for cutting-edge technology, reinforcing Texas as the Best State for Business and a top destination for companies looking to relocate, expand and thrive.”

Glenn Hamer, President & CEO of the Texas Association of Business

Glenn continues: "Texas has long been a hub for manufacturing, and we are proud to welcome Siemens’ newest investment in Forth Worth that will add hundreds of new jobs on top of the already 1,800 Siemens employees throughout the North Texas region.

"Siemens’ latest investment in advanced manufacturing components to help our grid meet new power demands is particularly important as Texas continues to attract data centres and AI infrastructure that will keep our state and nation at the cutting edge of innovation in an increasingly competitive global economy.”

Debra Phillips, President and CEO of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA)

Debra concludes: “Siemens' new Fort Worth manufacturing hub will be a gamechanger in helping to meet rising electricity demand from data centres.

"This new Siemens facility is emblematic of the billions of dollars in investments being made to expand critical US electrical manufacturing. The electrical products and equipment produced at this facility will play a pivotal role in powering America's AI future and creating new jobs.

"NEMA looks forward to continuing to work alongside our member companies like Siemens to bolster our nation's manufacturing sector, build our domestic workforce and enhance our global competitiveness while building a reliable, world-class US electrical system.”
