Inside Siemens's Programme to Empower Manufacturing Startups

Siemens at CES 2025 announced the launch of Siemens for Startups, a new initiative aimed at accelerating growth and progress at new engineering and manufacturing startups.
The programme is designed to help the innovators of the future streamline development processes, accelerate new technologies and scale at a quicker rate.
Its defined by three critical pillars where Siemens can provide significant value, services and support.
- Connect: The new programme will help onboard startup companies to the Siemens Xcelerator marketplace, thus providing access to a global go-to-market channel and the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem
- Collaborate: As an early customer and co-developer, Siemens will collaborate with leading startups through venture clienting. This approach will give Siemens access to cutting-edge capabilities and services and provide startups with the early revenue needed for growth
- Empower: Solutions from the "Siemens for Startups" programme will provide startups – whether focused on product development or on software development – with packaged access to essential software tools from Siemens Xcelerator
Siemens will provide its manufacturing expertise, whilst offering venture-related services and reducing the cost of access to its software and hardware for these companies.
This marks the continued growth of a movement among major manufacturers to identify and support promising startups, using their infrastructure and experience to supercharge new innovation in the sector.
This movement has been marked by collaboration and cooperation, with AWS assisting in the deployment of the Siemens for Startups programme.
Collaborating with AWS
As part of its ongoing strategic collaboration with AWS, Siemens will connect the Siemens for Startups programme with AWS’s Startup programme.
This connection will enable superior streamlining of the development process, making achieving scalability faster for startups involved.
This collaboration highlights the commitment of both Siemens and AWS to driving digital transformation within the industrial sector and fostering entrepreneurship.
"Collaborating with Siemens allows us to extend the capabilities of our AWS Startup program to a new generation of innovators in the engineering and manufacturing space,” says Jon Jones, Vice President and Global Head Startups at AWS.
“By providing startups with advanced software, generative AI and cloud services, AWS and Siemens are enabling them to bring their ideas to life more quickly and boost entire industries with cutting-edge solutions."
What is critical here is the integration of Siemens's comprehensive suite of industrial software – including design, simulation, and manufacturing solutions from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio – into AWS’s scalable cloud infrastructure and startup programme.
This integration will provide startups with an even greater abundance of tools and resources, helping them better identify and seize market opportunities.
For technical and go-to-market support, qualifying startups will receive AWS credits, business development resources, and access to the AWS Activate programme.
What startups are involved in the programme?
At CES 2025, Siemens highlighted several startups that are already collaborating with its teams and technology to scale operations.
The list included Arkisys, a company which is creating a business platform for space.
This platform will offer services like satellite integration, rapid prototyping, and on-orbit manufacturing through its Arkisys Port.
The list also included Dirac, a Siemens Technology Partner and start-up set to revolutionise American manufacturing with BuildOS.
BuildOS is an automated work instruction platform that bridges design and production through physics-based simulations and 3D assembly-ready work instructions.
This platform has proven invaluable in the automotive, aerospace and defence sectors.
Another example is Haddy, a startup that is transforming manufacturing through additive manufacturing and robotics.
By establishing a network of innovative local micro-factories, Haddy is reducing supply chain waste and costs in the process to produce sustainable products at scale.
The promise of startups in 2025
At CES 2025, we saw several major manufacturers in addition to Siemens announce new programs to support startups in manufacturing.
In our recent top ten ranking innovations from the event, we covered how Kia and Hyundai are among them, with their joint creative talent platform ZER01NE VENTURES used to identify and support burgeoning manufacturing startups.
With the rapid digitalisation of the manufacturing sector, more and more companies are seeing that the future lies in technological innovation.
Startups are a risky and ambitious venture. They require extensive funding and labour to establish, with no guarantee of what the end result will be.
"Startups are essential to making our customers more competitive, sustainable and resilient," says Peter Koerte, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer.
"By collaborating with startups, Siemens helps bring breakthrough ideas to industries faster, empowering customers to address global challenges more effectively with cutting-edge technologies, tools and solutions."
