Electrolux, the global leader in household appliances, has been named one of the top 5% of corporate global leaders working to battle climate change.

The CDP, a non-profit organisation working with corporate partners to disclose the greenhouse gas emissions of major businesses, has awarded Electrolux a position on the 2017 Climate A list for the second year in a row. This is due to the company’s efforts in cutting emissions, mitigating climate risks, and working to develop the low-carbon economy.

Henrik Sundström, Electrolux’s Head of Sustainability Affairs, said: "We have shown that an ambitious climate agenda together with a strong commitment to implementing goals in our manufacturing considerably reduces our CO2 footprint. I am pleased that Electrolux is recognised for our efforts to improve our climate impact.”

Electrolux’s plan is to reduce its carbon emissions by 50% before 2020, and as such it has worked intensely to reduce its environmental footprint by shifting to renewables and optimising the use of energy. In order to extend its environmentally-friendly services to customers, the efficiency of appliances have also been improved.

In terms of manufacturing those appliances, the average level of CO2 emissions per unit produced has decreased by 25% since 2015. Electrolux has also set itself the goal of half of its energy use coming from renewable sources by 2020.
