Salesforce has launched Agentforce for Manufacturing
Salesforce debuts Agentforce, an AI-powered platform built to streamline manufacturing operations, tackle labour gaps and optimise field service scheduling

Salesforce has introduced Agentforce for Manufacturing, a solution designed to help manufacturers address labour shortages and supply chain volatility by automating key operational functions.

Built for integration with Salesforce’s Manufacturing Cloud and Field Service products, Agentforce draws on data across enterprise systems, internet-connected machinery and external sources to provide live, AI-powered support across production, inventory and field service.

The move follows sharp workforce pressures across the industry. Research from The Manufacturing Institute and Deloitte shows that nearly two million jobs may remain unfilled by 2033, while almost 70% of manufacturing firms continue to rely on manual data processes.

In response, around 80% of manufacturing leaders now describe AI as essential for sustaining or growing their business.

Live production data supports real-time decision making

Agentforce is developed on Salesforce’s Data Cloud infrastructure, enabling digital agents to interact in natural language while triggering real-time actions across a company’s operations.

The platform uses continuous live data to assist in managing variance between production plans and actual output.

When production thresholds are exceeded, the system intervenes automatically, eliminating the need for manual tracking or intervention.

It also supports sales and account teams with on-site visit planning, preparing tailored agendas that reflect live production performance. This improves alignment between planning and sales, while easing the coordination burden on managers.

Key facts
  • 70% of manufacturers remain constrained by manual data entry whilst technicians waste one full day weekly on admin tasks
  • Manufacturing sector faces 2 million unfilled positions by 2033 as 80% of leaders consider AI essential for business growth

Inventory management functions are embedded within the sales workflow. Agents provide real-time inventory search capabilities during customer discussions and trigger restocking across distributor sites when levels run low.

Predictive analytics is used to flag upselling opportunities and identify stock that is underperforming, replacing the need to rely solely on historical reporting.

On the asset side, the platform processes sensor data from industrial equipment to predict maintenance needs. This allows the system to generate quotes, maintenance plans and work orders before faults emerge.

This approach reduces the risk of unplanned downtime and lessens the administrative load for engineers and technicians.

"Manufacturing companies are at a breaking point, struggling with labour shortages, supply chain disruption and economic pressure," says Achyut Jajoo, SVP and GM of Manufacturing for Automotive and Consumer Goods at Salesforce.

"They don’t need theoretical AI; they need digital agents that can start generating value on day one."

Field service teams gain automated scheduling support

Scheduling inefficiencies and skills shortages remain pain points for manufacturers with distributed service operations.

Agentforce addresses this by using AI agents to manage service bookings without human intervention. Customers can use natural language to book, reschedule or cancel appointments, with the platform automatically handling task matching and job allocation.

The scheduling engine factors in numerous variables at once, such as estimated job duration, part availability, technician skill set and geographic location, to match the right field service staff to the right task.

Predictive maintenance extends to customer outreach. Agents can proactively contact customers and arrange visits based on emerging maintenance needs, shifting service teams from reactive models to predictive, planned interventions.

"Field service teams are the unsung heroes of asset-intensive industries – responsible for keeping the world's factories running, vehicles moving and infrastructure humming," says Taksina Eammano, EVP and GM of Field Service at Salesforce.

"But these teams are being stretched thinner than ever, and time spent on admin tasks is leading to burnout."

The platform’s security features include enterprise-grade access controls, audit trails and response validation.

This ensures manufacturing organisations can implement AI across their operations while maintaining oversight and control. The system restricts unauthorised changes and ensures traceability of all agent actions.

Taksina adds: "These new Agentforce innovations give dispatchers, technicians, and asset managers an intelligent partner that works alongside them – identifying issues faster, scheduling smarter and resolving problems before they become disruptions. This is how we help service teams not just keep up but lead the charge into a more resilient, AI-powered future."
