What advantages can sustainability bring?

A joint report by the World Economic Forum and Schneider Electric, "Sustainability Meets Growth: A Roadmap for SMEs and Mid-Sized Manufacturers," indicates that fast-tracking sustainability initiatives could unlock significant economic growth.

According to the report, 38% of participants identified sustainability as a growth opportunity, while 60% acknowledged customer demand as the main catalyst for adopting sustainable practices.

Nevertheless, more than half of the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) identified competing priorities such as cost control and business expansion as hurdles in their sustainability journey.

Additionally, challenges such as policy uncertainty and financial limitations were noted.

“The future of manufacturing hinges on empowering SMEs and mid-sized companies to spearhead the shift toward a sustainable and inclusive global economy,” said Esther Finidori, Chief Sustainability Officer at Schneider Electric, upon the report’s publication.
