COP28: GMIS unites manufacturing sector for decarbonisation
At COP28, the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) will host an event on 5th December, at the UAE Pavilion, co-chaired by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). International leaders from the government and private sector will discuss decarbonising the manufacturing industry and lowering its carbon footprint.
The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit: Industry and sustainability
GMIS was set up in 2015 to forge greater understanding between manufacturers and governments, NGOs, technologists and investors, with an interest in the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s (4IR) and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The event will include a range of speakers, such as:
- Dorothy McAuliffe, Special Representative for the Office of Global Partnerships at the United States Department of State
- Roger Martella, Chief Sustainability Officer of General Electric
- Michael Train, Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of Emerson
- Jill Evanlko, President, CEO and Director of Chart Industries
- Lorena Dellagiovanna, Senior Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer and CDEIO of Hitachi.
Shaping the Fifth Industrial Revolution for sustainable progress
The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology is excited to highlight the critical role manufacturers play in decarbonising industries at COP28.
“In line with the objectives of the ministry’s participation in COP28, which include providing a platform for innovative solutions supporting decarbonisation in the industrial sector, we are pleased to collaborate with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to organise the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit’s Special Event at the UAE Pavilion,” said His Excellency Osama Amir Fadhel, Assistant Undersecretary of Industry Accelerators Sector at UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. “The event will further showcase the critical role of manufacturers and policymakers in decarbonising industries and hard-to-abate sectors, accelerating the clean energy transition, achieving net-zero targets and contributing to sustainable economic development.”

The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit special event will take place 14:50-17:20 at the Blue Zone in the UAE Pavilion, located in the Opportunity Petal at Expo City Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It will be live-streamed on: gmisummit.
