Interview: Tim Marsden, Coca-Cola EP at SCM Leaders Forum

Industry IoT's SCM Leaders Forum brought together industry pioneers in supply chain, manufacturing and sustainability at the HP Innovation Center in Barcelona.
The event showcased key speakers from global leaders including Bayer, Danone, L'Oréal and McKinsey & Company.
Tim Marsden, IT Director for Supply Chain at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, stopped for a chat with Manufacturing Digital.
What is Coca-Cola Europacific Partners?
While some may mistake Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) with The Coca-Cola Company, these businesses function as distinct entities within the beverage industry, with CCEP acting as a principal bottling partner.
"We're the largest bottler by revenue in the global Coke system," Tim explains.
In fact, CCEP's operations span more than 30 countries, giving it an extensive global footprint.
"Through the agreement we have with The Coca-Cola Company, we don't only manufacture and distribute products for Coca-Cola, but for other companies as well."
Leading transformation
Tim's role is pivotal at CCEP, directing the business process and technology function at CCEP, with a specific focus on supply chain operations.
At present, he is leading a comprehensive transformation programme through the implementation of SAP S/4HANA.
This initiative is a rare opportunity for CCEP to fundamentally integrate sustainability into its core systems.
As Tim puts it: "We've looked at all of our business process ambition for the future state of the company and mapped that to our business requirements in the technology we're looking to deploy.
"One of the things that comes out very clearly is the need for us to start making some fundamental changes in terms of the data we're going to be capturing and transacting in the system where sustainability concepts are concerned.
"It's very much been part of the journey we've been on over the past 18 months."
Overcoming challenges
Like many large manufacturers, CCEP faces continuous pressures in managing its supply chain amid global uncertainties.
Tim concludes: "Like everyone else, there's the operating environment we're in at the moment – the volatility, uncertainty and external pressures that, to a certain extent, are beyond our control, but we have to deal with their consequences.
"In our particular case, it's more about leveraging our scale. We have grown significantly over the last few years by expanding into new geographies and new territories. We're looking to gain more efficiencies as we scale out our operations."
