ABB & Marathon Gold forge automation excellence
ABB has entered into an agreement with Marathon Gold, which will design and commission ABB’s Valentine Gold Project power control system, based in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
ABB to elevate efficiency with Marathon Gold in the Valentine Gold Project, using advanced automation solutions
ABB is a leader in electrification and automation, which aims to build a more sustainable and resource-efficient future and optimise the manufacturing process. Toronto-based Marathon Gold is one of the top mining jurisdictions in the world. The company will lead the financing and development of the Valentine Gold Project, which will create more than 400 jobs through its construction and operations.
The Valentine Gold Project is one of the biggest gold mines in Canada. Through uniting it with ABB Ability™ System 800xA® distributed control system, the integrated automation system will also be based on ABB’s Select I/O and Industrial Ethernet networks. This will allow the team to better manage unexpected changes and supply chain delays and streamline the gold mine’s automation systems.
“We’re very happy that ABB was selected for this project and we’re looking forward to working with the Marathon Gold team to keep it on track,” said Sachin Jari, Head of Mining, North America for ABB Process Industries. “It is set to become a very important gold mining operation in Canada and one that our experienced project team will make a positive impact on. They have decades of experience working with mining projects of similar stature in Canada and globally.”
