Lenovo Unveils 2025 Playbook at Hannover Messe

On 31 March 2025, Hannover Messe arrived at Hannover Exhibition Grounds for an industrial fair that delves into digital ecosystems, smart manufacturing, industrial automation, IT and mobility technologies.
Chinese multinational technology company, Lenovo, made an appearance during the opening day of the event to spotlight key findings from EMEA manufacturers.
Citing research from the CIO Playbook 2025 research survey, Lenovo states that, across the next year, manufacturers in EMEA plan to increase their spending in AI by 106%.
Lenovo also celebrated the success of manufacturing in the AI industry over the past year, with 79% of manufacturing AI projects having met or exceeded expectations. This makes the industry hold the top success rate of any sector.
Jonathan Wu, Chief Technology Officer of Smart Manufacturing at Lenovo, explains: “Manufacturing companies are prioritising decision-making, compliance and employee productivity as they adopt AI to enhance operational efficiency and drive profitability.
“Success with AI will depend on a careful approach to integration, with system compatibility and adequate compute resources being key success factors.
“A historical lack of software technology investment prioritisation in manufacturing is behind many firms’ integration challenges, especially with legacy systems and struggles with scaling AI initiatives across global operations."
AI priorities and use cases in manufacturing
The manufacturing industry is shifting its focus to AI to improve operations, boost profitability and optimise decision-making.
Not only does AI enhance quality control and supply chain resilience to help organisations stay competitive in dynamic markets, but it also acts as a catalyst for faster and more accurate business decisions by offering real-time insights.
Lenovo points out the fact that the manufacturing industry holds a definite split in AI investment, with 44% focusing on Gen AI tools and 44% concentrating on interpretive AI tools.
To maintain data security while enabling scalability, Lenovo states that 67% are using on-prem, private and/or hybrid AI infrastructure.
As the manufacturing industry begins to effectively integrate AI, Lenovo highlights three factors that are leading to greater success:
- The ease with which AI can be integrated with initial systems
- Having sufficient hybrid computing and storage resources
- Possessing the right budget and driven leadership
Inside Lenovo’s AI solutions for manufacturing
At Hannover Messe, Lenovo celebrated its range of AI-led solutions that aim to enhance sustainability, operational efficiency and quality control across the manufacturing industry.
Manufacturers can improve business productivity, enhance AI adoption, and craft and utilise AI agents through Lenovo Hybrid AI Advantage with NVIDIA solutions.
