The integration of both platforms is driven by the aim to provide superior energy management and AI capabilities to industrial clients like manufacturers

Mitsubishi Electric, the leading Japanese electronics manufacturer has integrated its Iconics and EcoAdvisor platforms to drive superior energy management and AI capabilities on a joint platform.

This move is set to have a huge impact on manufacturing, with the platform promising gains in operational efficiency, cost and sustainability.

EcoAdvisor is Mitsubishi's Energy Saving Support Software, which the manufacturer has been using to improve productivity of the assembly lines of circuit breakers in its Fukuyama factory in Japan. It's a valuable sustainability tool that highlights where energy is being unnecessarily sapped, say through temperature or disorganisation, and offers clear, built-in solutions.

Iconics, powered by Iconis, is Mitsubishi Electric's platform of industry-focused software solutions.

The platform provides advanced visualisation technology which can be run on any desktop or mobile device and tools that can connect to various industry standard communication protocols.

“By bringing together ICONICS' expertise in automation software and sustainability solutions with EcoAdviser's energy-saving capabilities, this integration offers a comprehensive approach to improving industrial efficiency," says Yasuharu Takeda, Technical Marketing Manager of Strategic Product and Commercial Marketing at Mitsubishi Electric.

"It addresses multiple aspects of manufacturing, from machine management and energy consumption to data analysis and regulatory compliance, providing industries with powerful tools to optimise their operations and enhance sustainability efforts.”

So what does this convergence mean for manufacturers?

It means they'll get access to the tools and solutions of both platforms, and that those tools and solutions will undergo greater enhancement.

Manufacturers will no longer need to manage and maintain two distinct platforms, and will gain superior insights into the relationship between industrial software solutions and energy management.

Here's the breakdown of the key benefits set to come out this.

Benefits for manufacturers

Iconics and EcoAdviser are set to become a joint platform

Mitsubishi Electric’s integrated Iconics and EcoAdviser platforms offer a unified solution for industrial automation and energy management.

This powerful synergy enhances operational efficiency, promotes sustainability, and drives cost savings, helping businesses achieve new levels of performance and competitiveness.

Key benefits include a unified data platform, that combines real-time data visualisation with optimising energy, simplifying management and reducing headaches.

Through Iconics, the analysis and estimation of energy loss EcoAdviser can provide is enriched. The platform also enables more proactive and timely interventions.

The platform will have enhanced reporting features and integrated dashboards.

Through customisable dashboards and comprehensive reports, all aspects of energy management and operations will be easier to assess, improve and comprehensively evaluate.

For stakeholders such as plant managers, technicians and engineers the benefits are extensive. Managers gain a higher level of oversight over operations, improving their decision-making and enhancing their level of control.

Engineers gain integrated diagnostics tools that are quicker and more effective than before when the platforms were singular. This will enable them to resolve problems quicker and better stay on top of predictive maintenance.

Ultimately the fusion of these two platforms follows a growing trend we're seeing in manufacturing: convergence.

Leaders in the industry, by combining software- like ERP or energy management platforms- with industry 4.0 technologies like automation, robotics and AI are supercharging the power of both.

With how much holistic management, planning and oversight matters in manufacturing, this is set to have a profoundly positive impact.

As we imagine Mitsubishi Electric's joint platform will.
