The automated handling firm based in Minnisota, PaR Systems, has expanded in the UK as it opens a new facility in Lillyhall, Workington.

The company specialises solutions for the nuclear industry, such as cranes, manipulators, custom tooling, robotic handling systems, as well as R&D for decommissioning.

PaR Systems has confirmed an extended framework agreement allowing it to grow in the area and support Sellafield Ltd., a nuclear decommissioning company.

The firm has supported Sellafield since in opened its operations in the region in 2011.

“Opening our new facility in Lillyhall is a critical step in continuing our rapid growth in the UK and support to businesses in the area,” stated Jon Sakry, President of PaR Systems Handling Solutions.

“We’ve outgrown our previous location, and our new location will give us the space to expand our operations in the UK.”

The company aims for the new facility to not only aid with expansion in its traditional marketplace, but to help grow in aerospace, automotive, and commercial material handling.

The space will feature workshops for mechanical and electrical assembly, as well as building, testing , and refurbishing manipulator systems.

The site will also include cranes for larger-scale jobs – such as crane manufacturing, testing of remote and robotic systems, as well as providing a demonstration facility for PaR’s EXPERTOPERATORTM crane anti-sway and motion control systems.

“I am excited for the opening of our new facility at Lillyhall, as it will allow us greater space to support our nuclear remote handling work for Sellafield and our other nuclear customers, as well as space for additional automation and handling equipment for testing, research and development,” reported PaR Systems UK’s Managing Director, John McGibbon.

“We are proud to add this location in West Cumbria and to support the local industrial businesses already established in the community.”
