What to see and do at GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024

GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024
At the 2024 GSMA MWC in Shanghai, guests will learn more about the future of 5G and IoT, as well as the role of mobile connectivity in manufacturing

We’re less than a month away until MWC Shanghai returns on 26 June, and we cannot wait to welcome global connectivity leaders back to the Shanghai New International Expo Center for the largest and most influential gathering of the connectivity ecosystem in Asia.

As we celebrate the return of leading companies such as Huawei, Lenovo and ZTE, we are also delighted to see a number of first-time attendees among our exhibitors, including Amazon Web Services, iFLYTEK, Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology and Xiaomi. China is expecting to reach 1 billion 5G connections by the end of the year, and attendees will have the chance to see first-hand how groundbreaking mobile innovations are changing the face of the world’s largest mobile market.

MWC Shanghai attracts attendees from every corner of the global connectivity ecosystem, including mobile operators and device manufacturers, leading tech companies and fast-growing startups, and policymakers and regulatory authorities. Catering for such a diverse profile of visitors means there really is something for everybody across the MWC show floor.

Connected Industries

The Connected Industries space in Hall N4 will invite attendees to delve into the future of vertical sectors, showcasing how mobile connectivity is revolutionising FinTech, healthcare, supply chain, automotive and more.

The zone will feature two industry Summits that shine a light on the sectors where mobile technologies are having a profound impact in delivering smarter, more sustainable means of production, products and services – this year’s Summits are dedicated to the worlds of Manufacturing and Smart Mobility

Manufacturing has long been a key beneficiary of mobile technology, and the sector is expected to drive over $330bn of economic value from 5G by 2030 thanks to smart factory applications. But 5G is one of many technologies in the Industry 4.0 mix, with manufacturers also benefitting from the Industrial Internet of Things, AI, edge computing and augmented reality. The Manufacturing Summit will deep dive into these new technology applications, with speakers presenting how manufacturers are using AI, as well as best practices to overcome adoption challenges and achieve tangible returns on investment.

The Smart Mobility Summit will give visitors a glimpse into the future, showcasing the latest developments in drone deliveries, the electric vehicle revolution, self-driving cars and flying taxis! Panel sessions will cover topics such as the mid-low altitude economy that’s emerging throughout Asia, as well as the future of intelligent connected vehicles .

5G IN

Attendees should also be sure to visit 5G IN located in hall N5. 5G IN, which stands for 5G Innovation and Investment Group, is a GSMA Foundry project that brings together mobile operators, industry and ecosystem partners and investors to stimulate 5G innovation and cross-sector collaboration and transformation.

Among the exhibitors at 5G IN 2024 are AGILIC (Tianjin) Technologies Co., Ltd.; FZ-LLC; General Power Microelectronics Technology Limited; Shanghai Fanchuang Communication Technology Co., Ltd.; Wuhan Tabebuia Technology Co., Ltd; UK Telecom Distribution; Shenzhen Abtec Electronics Co., Ltd; Accuver Shanghai Co., Ltd; and Shanghai TUGE.

GSMA Programmes

The five stages across MWC Shanghai will welcome leading figures from the connectivity ecosystem for an agenda of GSMA Programmes. These sessions delve into the most pressing technology challenges, new standards and systems and the latest trends in business and engineering, and provide attendees with valuable opportunities to broaden their knowledge on the emerging technologies disrupting industries.

GSMA Programmes taking place include:

  • The 5G IoT Summit, 10:00-12:30pm on Wednesday 26th June (MWC Open Stage, N4 E70)
    • The session will explore the growth of 5G Massive IoT, the enabling technologies and partnerships, as well as global trends in IoT and what the industry can expect to see over the next few years.
