Richard Kenworthy, Managing Director at Toyota Motor UK (TMUK) has returned to Toyota Motor Europe (TME), promoted to its Vice President of Manufacturing. Richard will be responsible for production engineering, the TME supply chain and the strategy and business planning division.

With decades of experience in automotive manufacturing and a focus on operational excellence, Richard plays a crucial role in advancing Toyota’s production capabilities and sustainability initiatives in Europe.

Richard has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and furthered his education with an MBA, enhancing his ability to combine technical expertise with strategic leadership.

He began his career at Toyota in the UK, joining the company as part of its graduate program. He quickly rose through the ranks, gaining experience in various roles across production management, lean manufacturing, and quality assurance. 

Richard’s leadership in introducing lean manufacturing principles to Toyota’s European plants significantly improved efficiency and product quality, earning him recognition as a key figure in Toyota’s European growth.

Throughout his career, Kenworthy has held various leadership positions within Toyota, contributing to the company’s reputation for innovation and reliability. As Vice President of Manufacturing, he continues to focus on driving operational improvements, enhancing sustainability practices, and aligning Toyota’s European production with the company’s global commitment to carbon neutrality. 

His leadership has been instrumental in maintaining Toyota’s position as a leader in the automotive industry.
