Schreiner Group's sustainable production & 2030 goal
Printing service Schreiner Group plans to reach climate-neutral manufacturing at the end of 2023 and achieve full climate neutrality by 2030, through a series of sustainability measures in its production.
Schreiner Group's roadmap to achieving carbon neutrality in its manufacturing
The Paris Agreement calls for a 1.5°C cap on global warming. To achieve this, emissions need to be reduced by 45% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050 according to the United Nation’s Net Zero Coalition. Many manufacturers have got their eye on the clock and are taking appropriate steps to ensure that they do their bit.
Schreiner Group has published a commitment letter to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) explaining the steps it will take to reach climate-neutral production, which include:
- CO2 reduction, which will focus on generating renewable energy, reducing energy consumption, buying green electricity and manufacturing sustainable products
- Solvent emissions in production have been lowered 53% since 2007, from using solvent-free or low-solvent cleaning agents
- Schreiner Group uses an intelligent waste separation system, which achieves recycling rates of 97%
- Schreiner Group’s most recently opened headquarters is 100% carbon neutral. Its photovoltaic systems save 200 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
Sustainable manufacturers from across the world head to a carbon-neutral 2030
“By manufacturing sustainable products, we intend to establish climate-neutral production from 2023 onward, and achieve full climate neutrality by 2030,” said Roland Schreiner, CEO of Schreiner Group. “With this goal, Schreiner Group clearly surpasses other industrial companies.”
Schreiner Group is not alone.
Nestlé believes that the power of food can enhance quality of life for everyone. It plans to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. It will source 20% of key ingredients through regenerative agriculture methods by 2025 and 50% by 2030.
Unilever is also pushing towards zero emissions in its operations by 2030, and net zero emissions across its value chain by 2039, alongside finding new low-carbon ingredients, expanding its plant-based product range and developing fossil-fuel-free cleaning and laundry products.
