Jabil enhances sustainable offerings for CPG customers

Jabil acquires Ecologic Brands to enhance its sustainable packaging platform and offerings for its consumer packaged goods (CPG) customers...

With 43% of consumers actively choosing brands based on their environmental values, this figure only stands to increase as investments in sustainable solutions rise. Organisations that want to remain competitive in the future must look to look to adopt these methods or face being left behind.

Jabil is one such organisation driving sustainable solutions in its operations. In a recent announcement made by the global manufacturer, the company reported its acquisition of Ecologic Brands, a leading provider of sustainable packaging. In doing so Jabil stands to significantly enhance its sustainable packaging platform and offerings for its consumer packaged goods (CPG) customers.

“By fuelling Ecologic’s unique paper bottle technology with Jabil’s advanced manufacturing solutions and global scale, we aim to help all consumer brands dramatically reduce plastics in packaging worldwide. We’re thrilled to be adding a talented team, plus unique and innovative products that directly support our customer demands and Jabil’s enterprise sustainability goals,” commented Jason Paladino, senior vice president of Jabil and CEO of Jabil Packaging Solutions.

In acquiring Ecologic Brands, Jabil will gain access to the organisation's sustainable paper bottle solution to reduce plastic packaging and advance sustainability goals.

Ecologic Brands paper bottle solution

Ecologic Brands harnesses molded fiber technology to manufacture paper bottle shells that can “withstand the roughest supply chains.”

In the process recycled cardboard and newspaper are pulped into a slurry mix that is transferred to a forming station that applies heat and pressure to form the shells.

“I am so proud that our paper bottle was the world’s first breakthrough technology that helps solve the growing environmental challenges caused by plastic,” said Julie Corbett, founder and CEO of Ecologic Brands. “Our pioneering efforts created and validated market opportunity, and now, Jabil provides the ideal mix of global footprint, manufacturing excellence and a customer-first culture to fully pursue our vision of leadership.”
