MaintainX: Helping Duracell & Titan America Embrace Data

Chris Turlica, CEO and Co-Founder, MaintainX
MaintainX CEO and Co-Founder Chris Turlica discusses the MaintainX platform, predictive maintenance and AI and the critical role of data in manufacturing

Please introduce yourself and your role

I'm the CEO and Co-Founder of MaintainX. As a founder, I'm deeply passionate about leveraging technology to revolutionise the way businesses handle maintenance and operations.

I'm always looking for the next innovation to drive our industry forward.

Outside of my professional life, I am a dedicated husband and father of three, cherishing the time I spend with my family.

At MaintainX, we help over 9,000 companies manage critical operations; my role involves steering our team towards continuous innovation and excellence, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of the industry while fostering a culture that values creativity and, most of all, customer success.

What are the dominant trends in manufacturers' use of AI for predictive maintenance?

The manufacturing landscape is rapidly evolving and AI plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of both asset and work intelligence.

While yet to be universal, we see a strong trend toward manufacturers embracing AI-driven solutions to transform their operations to decrease unplanned equipment and operational downtime.

On the asset intelligence front, while widespread adoption of AI for predictive maintenance is still in progress, trends such as a move toward real-time data analysis, reactive to proactive maintenance and global asset insights applied locally are gaining momentum.

On the work intelligence front, smarter deployment of the right frontline professional for the right job while providing AI-assisted work insights is a growth area.

Forward-thinking manufacturers are investing in AI to gain a competitive advantage, increase resilience and future-proof operations.

Why did you create MaintainX?

At MaintainX, we recognised that 80% of the workforce, primarily technicians, aren't sitting at a desk but out managing equipment and facilities. We set out to help turn these workers into the knowledge workers they are.

Our platform empowers these professionals by keeping equipment running through preventive maintenance, facilitating quick repair insights and streamlining safety and compliance.

Customers love MaintainX because it reduces downtime, increases workforce productivity, cuts parts costs and enhances safety.

Our intuitive platform allows technicians to create work orders, log repairs and access critical information from their phones and in the field.

Beyond the software, our mission is to give the workforce the tools to perform at their best, building stronger, more resilient operations.

How can manufacturers use MaintainX to streamline maintenance and prevent downtime?

MaintainX is designed to be the hub of a manufacturer's operations.

Our platform transforms that flood of data from sensors, equipment logs and even technician observations into actionable insights.

We're talking about automatically triggered work orders, optimized maintenance schedules and real-time visibility into asset health. This isn't just about preventing breakdowns; it's about making maintenance proactive, not reactive.

Another way MaintainX can help manufacturers is through enhancing frontline safety. Can you expand on this and explain why safety is such a challenge to manufacturers?

Safety is absolutely paramount in manufacturing, but it's a complex challenge.

You've got heavy machinery, hazardous environments and constantly evolving regulations.

MaintainX helps by digitizing safety audits, automating corrective actions and inspections and even using AI to identify potential risks based on past data.

We're empowering technicians with real-time information and tools so they can make informed decisions on the spot, ultimately reducing accidents and keeping everyone safer.

What separates MaintainX from other AI-driven maintenance and frontline execution platforms?

Our relentless focus on user experience and our deep understanding of the manufacturing world sets us apart.

We've built MaintainX to be incredibly easy to use, even for technicians who aren't tech-savvy.

User experience is often overlooked, but technology can only drive value if your team adopts and engages with it.

Our AI is powerful but designed to augment human expertise, not replace it.

Plus, our platform is highly customisable, so it fits seamlessly into any manufacturing environment. We're not just another software company; we're a partner in your journey toward operational excellence.

What are your plans for the next twelve months?

We're not just building a maintenance platform; we're building a data-driven future for asset management.

We'll continue to advance the use of AI, IoT and advanced analytics to unlock incredible value for our customers.

In the future, they will be able to predict asset failures before they happen, streamline how technicians work and create an interconnected data platform for maximum efficiency.

Our vision is a data-driven asset management future, but our daily mission is delivering immediate, concrete value. It's all about driving unplanned equipment and regulatory downtime to zero.

Is there anything else you'd like to say to the manufacturing industry about MaintainX?

We believe the future of manufacturing is data-driven and we're here to lead the charge. With MaintainX, you're not just investing in a platform; you're investing in a safer, more efficient and ultimately more profitable operation.

We invite you to join us in this revolution and experience firsthand how MaintainX can transform your operations.
